Making our way down to the water tunnel

We are at Tell Megiddo which is unique because it's earliest settlement dates back some 7 thousand years with 26 consecutive settlements build one on another. the  last settlement dating to the time of David and Solomon after which time the site was abandoned. Because of that everything we see dates prior to 500 BC. One of the interesting features is a water system consisting of a square shaft  which goes straight down 115 feet. At the bottom the tunnel opens into a horizontal shaft bored through solid rock for 330 feet to a pool of water which lies outside the city walls. We were able to descend by stairs to this shaft and follow it to its end at the spring. Sent from my Verizon Wireless 4G LTE smartphone
